Princess Noor Pahlavi: Ali-Sina Mostafavi was a climber who conquered Everest, not a terrorist

By sharing a mountaineering video of Ali-Sina Mostafavi, the executed political prisoner, Princess Noor Pahlavi rejected the Islamic Republic's "terrorist" label for him with the picture of his life.

Princess Noor Pahlavi: Ali-Sina Mostafavi was a climber who conquered Everest, not a terrorist

Princess Noor Pahlavi, daughter of Prince Reza Pahlavi, challenged the Islamic Republic's account of the executed political prisoner on Wednesday 14 October 2026 by posting on the social network X a video of the late mountaineer Ali-Sina Mostafavi. The media office of Prince Reza Pahlavi reposted her message.

Princess Noor Pahlavi wrote: "Today I learned the name Ali-Sina Mostafavi; I wish I had learned his name in different circumstances." She added that the authorities labelled this climber a "terrorist", but that the published video shows who he truly was: "A 38-year-old climber, standing on the summit of Everest, a musician and artist, an animal lover, and someone in love with life and nature." Her message ended with the line: "See for yourselves and judge."

The execution of Ali-Sina Mostafavi and contradictory accounts

The Islamic Republic's judiciary announced the same day the execution of Ali-Sina Mostafavi, a 38-year-old climber from Kerman. Before his execution he had been moved to solitary confinement, and his family had been summoned for a last visit. Mostafavi was the father of a daughter.

The official account of his case is marked by contradictions: police first described the shooting of 24 March in Kerman as non-terrorist, but the Ministry of Intelligence later announced the arrest of suspects for "terrorist acts". No document of an open and fair trial for him has been published.

The reaction of Prince Reza Pahlavi's office

Earlier, the media office of Prince Reza Pahlavi called the execution of Ali-Sina Mostafavi a "state murder" and said those who ordered and carried it out would be held accountable before justice. Relying on pictures of the climber's life, Princess Noor Pahlavi's message sets the human face of the victims of the wave of political executions against the labels of the authorities.

With a video of Ali-Sina Mostafavi climbing, Princess Noor Pahlavi left the Islamic Republic's "terrorist" label to the judgment of the people.
