Prince Reza Pahlavi's office warns of imminent execution of Shahab Zohdi

Prince Reza Pahlavi's office warned on Sunday 1 November that Shahab Zohdi, a Dey uprising detainee in Ghezel Hesar prison, faces imminent execution, and urged people to be his voice.

Why it matters: The Prince's office message raises global pressure on the Islamic Republic not to execute a fifth defendant in one Dey uprising case.

This report updates: Shahab Zohdi and four other January uprising detainees sentenced to death

Prince Reza Pahlavi's media office warned on the morning of Sunday 1 November 2026 that Shahab Zohdi, a political prisoner arrested during the Dey 1404 uprising (December 2025–January 2026), is at risk of imminent execution. DIAR had earlier reported the renewed death sentences of Shahab Zohdi and four other Dey uprising detainees.

In its message, the Prince's office described Shahab Zohdi as a freedom-seeking young man arrested in the Dey uprising who is held in Ghezel Hesar prison in Karaj and has again been sentenced to death in what it called show trials. The message urged people to speak up to save him: "Be his voice. Do not let the Islamic Republic's killing machine take another innocent life." The Prince's office used the hashtag "Last Breath" with the message.

Shahab Zohdi's case

Shahab Zohdi, born on 18 February 1988, worked as a motorcycle courier before his arrest. His wife died five months after their child was born, and for about 15 years he has been the child's sole carer.

His name appears in the case of a fire at a Basij base on Namjoo Street in Tehran. His first death sentence was issued in January–February 2026. The Supreme Court overturned it, but he was sentenced to death again at retrial. According to the Prince's office, four other young men in the same case, Mohammad Amin Biglari, Shahin Vahedparast Kolor, Amirhossein Hatami and Ali Fahim, have already been executed.

Death sentences for protesters accelerate

The warning comes as the Revolutionary Courts have issued new death sentences for Dey uprising detainees, including the death sentence of Shayan Shakibaei, a 29-year-old protester in Kerman. Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, head of the Islamic Republic's judiciary, also called on Saturday 31 October for faster handling of "collaboration with the enemy" cases.

In recent weeks Prince Reza Pahlavi's media office has repeatedly issued messages about political prisoners at risk of execution and has asked Iranians to keep their names alive in the media and on social networks.

Prince Reza Pahlavi's office asked Iranians to be Shahab Zohdi's voice so that the Islamic Republic does not execute a fifth defendant in this case.
