Pressure by the Islamic Republic's security agents on the families of those killed in the Dey uprising has gone beyond raids on their homes and now includes the arrest of at least three family members in two days, the opening of court cases and the blocking of social media accounts. Iran International reported these cases on Tuesday, 6 October 2026, based on information it received.
According to the outlet, Mona Mahmoudian, the wife of Ebrahim Mostafapour, who was killed in Babol on 8 January, was arrested outside her workplace on 29 September. Amir Farnia, the 23-year-old son of Majid Farnia, another of those killed, was also arrested at his workplace in Kelardasht. Zahra Fadakar, the wife of Vahid Firouzi and mother of two young daughters, was arrested after going to the FATA cyber police in Nasimshahr, Tehran province, and was taken to an unknown location.
Court cases and summonses for the families
According to the same report, a case has been opened against Sanaz Bani-Saeid, the wife of Mohsen Rashidi Khaniabadi, who was killed in Isfahan on 9 January, on a charge of "political blogging", and her Instagram page has been blocked. Members of the family of Iman Asadi, a young man from Arak who was killed on 8 January 2026, have also been summoned several times and warned not to publish anything about him or their pursuit of justice on social media.
Families who have been in contact with Iran International say these pressures have not weakened the bond between them but have made it stronger.
Raids on homes and seizure of belongings of those killed
Iran International had earlier reported that over the past two weeks security agents had raided the homes of at least five families of those killed and taken away clothes, diaries, books and even dolls belonging to their lost loved ones. According to the families, the agents warned them not to publish photos and videos online.
These pressures coincide with the continued issuing and carrying out of harsh sentences against those detained in the Dey uprising, including the execution of Alireza Sepahi and Alireza Raeisi in Isfahan and the death sentence of Hadi Abbasian, a protester from Shirvan.
After raiding their homes, security agents are now arresting the wives and children of those killed in the Dey uprising.
