According to videos sent by citizens to free media, a group of compatriots who support the monarchy and supporters of Prince Reza Pahlavi rallied on Saturday, 17 October 2026, in two Caucasus capitals, Baku in the Republic of Azerbaijan and Tbilisi in Georgia, outside the Islamic Republic's embassy.
These reports were sent in by citizens, and no other independent source has so far confirmed the details. The descriptions of the videos give no number of participants, slogans or names of organisers; the Tbilisi rally video lasts about one minute and the Baku rally video less than one minute.
Iranians rally in the Caucasus in support of the national revolution
In the months since the December–January uprising, rallies outside the Islamic Republic's embassies have become one of the common forms of protest by Iranians abroad. Baku and Tbilisi, the capitals of two neighbouring Caucasus countries, are among the cities many Iranians travel to, and rallies there send a direct message to the Islamic Republic's missions in Iran's neighbourhood.
The rallies are being held as Prince Reza Pahlavi's supporters prepare for larger gatherings. Compatriots inside Iran had earlier called on Iranians abroad to be present in Frankfurt on 7 November, coinciding with the presentation of a freedom prize to the Prince. Prince Reza Pahlavi will also speak on Friday, 6 November at Belgium's Royal Military Academy.
Citizens' reports, the first source
A large part of the news of smaller rallies by Iranians in less-covered cities first emerges through videos sent in by citizens. DIAR will publish follow-up reports on these two rallies, including the number of participants and their messages, once they are confirmed.
