Peyman Ghadiri, a 45-year-old protester of the Dey uprising from Qarchak, has died after about nine months in a coma. Regime agents entered his home on the night of 9 January 2026, at the height of the uprising, and shot him in the head at close range.
An informed source told Iran International that the agents also arrested Peyman Ghadiri's son that same night to force the family into silence about what had happened. The exact date of his death and the name of the hospital where he was being treated have not been announced, and Islamic Republic officials have so far said nothing about the case.
Who Peyman Ghadiri was
Peyman Ghadiri had studied art and worked as an interior designer. Those close to him have described him as a charitable man who paid for several people's weddings and took responsibility for the care of several orphaned children.
Shots to protesters' heads during the Dey uprising
Direct shots to protesters' heads and faces were a recurring pattern in the crackdown on the Dey uprising. DIAR earlier reported the story of Ahmadreza and Amirhossein Feyzi, two brothers, a teenager and a young man, in Fardis, Karaj, who were killed by dozens of live police bullets. Arresting family members and pressuring them into silence are also among the methods the security forces have used to hide the scale of the killing.
Peyman Ghadiri's death after so many months shows that the toll of the Dey uprising's fallen (javidnaman) is still not closed, and that those wounded in those days are still dying, while those who ordered and carried out the shootings have not been held to account.
Nine months after agents shot him in the head at his home in Qarchak, Peyman Ghadiri has joined the fallen of the Dey uprising.
