A newer update of this story has been published: Saeed Ghasemi-Nejad: emergency-period booklet revised after thousands of comments
Saeed Ghasseminejad, director of the "Iran Prosperity Project" and an economic adviser to Prince Reza Pahlavi, in his speech at the "Free Iran and the European Union" conference in Düsseldorf, Germany, answered the claim that Prince Reza Pahlavi has no plan for Iran's future or does not believe in democracy. The video of the speech was published by Prince Reza Pahlavi's media office in the early hours of Wednesday, 14 October 2026.
According to Ghasseminejad, the transition plan provides for at least four elections; a mechanism whose aim is to leave the decision on the form and content of Iran's future political system to Iranians themselves. He stressed the right of the Iranian people to decide the country's political destiny at the ballot box.
The Iran Prosperity Project in the Prince's five-part strategy
In another part of his remarks, the director of the Iran Prosperity Project explained the project's place in Prince Reza Pahlavi's five-part strategy. According to him, the strategy begins with pressure on the Islamic Republic and support for the people's struggle inside the country, and extends to planning for the rebuilding of Iran after the Islamic Republic. The Iran Prosperity Project is the planning arm of this strategy: preparing expert plans for the economy, energy, water and the country's institutions in the days after the transition.
The Iran Prosperity Project was formed with Prince Reza Pahlavi's support and has so far published a series of expert plans and booklets on the transition period. In addition to directing the project, Saeed Ghasseminejad chaired the committee that selected the members of the transition structure.
A reply to critics in the days before Frankfurt
The speech was published as Prince Reza Pahlavi is due to receive the Friedrich Naumann Foundation's "Freedom Prize 2026" in trust on behalf of the Iranian people in Frankfurt on 7 November; a decision that has met with opposition from a number of critics and was backed in response by 1,700 Iranian doctors and specialists. In his recent speech at the Cyrus the Great 2 conference in Toronto, Prince Reza Pahlavi had spoken of active defections within the structure of the Islamic Republic and of the readiness of opposition networks inside Iran.
The claim that he has "no plan" has been repeated for years by part of Prince Reza Pahlavi's opponents; his team's answer is to publish the details of the transition plan and the Iran Prosperity Project's plans.
According to Saeed Ghasseminejad, Prince Reza Pahlavi's transition plan provides for at least four elections so that Iranians themselves decide the shape of the future system.
