Prince Reza Pahlavi called the Houthi attack on Riyadh's King Khalid Airport fresh proof that the Islamic Republic never seeks peace, and offered his condolences to the people of Saudi Arabia.

Prince Reza Pahlavi: the attack on Riyadh airport is proof of the Islamic Republic's warmongering

In a message published on his official channel on Sunday 11 October 2026, Prince Reza Pahlavi described the deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh as "the latest proof" that the government ruling Tehran never seeks peace. He offered his condolences to King Salman of Saudi Arabia, to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and to the people of Saudi Arabia over the deaths of a number of people in this "terrorist attack".

In the message, published in Persian and English, Prince Reza Pahlavi recalled that since 1979 the Islamic Republic, whether directly or through its proxy forces, has waged aggression against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and sought to destabilise it. He wrote: "The Houthis and their campaign of chaos will end when Iran is free," and friendly relations between the two countries are resumed.

The Houthi attack on Riyadh airport

Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation has announced that the attack on King Khalid Airport left 12 dead and 309 wounded. Yemen's Houthis, allies of the Islamic Republic, also targeted King Fahd Airport in Dammam in recent days, and the death toll from the attacks on the Riyadh and Dammam airports has reached 14. Saudi Arabia has also opened an investigation into the failure of its air defences against the attack.

Arab countries have called for a joint response to the Houthis. The United States, Britain and Australia have also warned their citizens about travelling to Saudi Arabia.

The Prince's view of the future of Iran–Saudi relations

Prince Reza Pahlavi has said repeatedly that a free Iran after the Islamic Republic will, instead of exporting crisis and backing proxy groups, restore friendly relations and cooperation with its neighbours. His message of condolence to the leaders and people of Saudi Arabia follows this same outlook, which sees the current hostilities as those of the Islamic Republic, not of the Iranian nation.
