Prince Reza Pahlavi turned 66 today, Saturday, 31 October 2026. He was born in Tehran on 31 October 1960, the eldest child of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi and Shahbanu Farah Pahlavi. Since early this morning, Iranians have been congratulating him on social media and on Telegram channels that publish citizen reports from inside the country.

The birthday comes at a time when Prince Reza Pahlavi's name is more closely tied to Iran's future than ever. In a week, on 7 November, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation's 2026 Freedom Prize will be presented to him on behalf of the Iranian people at St. Paul's Church in Frankfurt, an award that 43 Iranian organisations and networks thanked the foundation for in a letter.

From Tehran to leading the national revolution

At 17, in 1978, Prince Reza Pahlavi went to the United States for pilot training and never returned to Iran after the 1979 revolution. For more than four decades in exile he has worked for secular democracy in Iran and for a free referendum on the country's future system of government.

During the uprising of December 2025 and January 2026, the slogan "Javid Shah" and his name were heard in the streets of Iran's cities, and he became the leading figure of the national revolution under the Lion and Sun flag. His office is now running the national cooperation campaign through the "Rise Up Iran" bot and has published a security guide for it. On Cyrus the Great Day, compatriots also raised images of Cyrus and the Pahlavi family above a highway in Iran.

The Prince's team and the transition plan

Meanwhile, Prince Reza Pahlavi's team is advancing its plans for the transition period. The Iran Prosperity Project, set up with his support, has published plans for Iran's economy, water and energy after the Islamic Republic.

Prince Reza Pahlavi was born in Tehran on 31 October 1960 and turned 66 today.
