Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a Persian-language message on his official Instagram account on Thursday, 22 October 2026, thanked Iranians around the world who have sent him messages and videos of support, and said he will continue to defend the freedom and rights of the people of Iran.
In the message, Netanyahu said he sees thousands of videos and messages of support from Iranians. He recalled the repression and killing of the people of Iran by the Islamic Republic and said that in the face of it one must not lose the ability to see the human being and their suffering. In his words, Iranians deserve to live in freedom, security and dignity: fathers and mothers who want their children to come home safely, women who want to live without fear, and young people who want to dream without risking their lives.
Netanyahu and Iran's future
The Israeli prime minister said in the message that he and US President Donald Trump are doing everything they can for a better future, and expressed hope that one day "the children of Tehran and Jerusalem will grow up in peace".
The message was published a day after Netanyahu said he had ordered the army and the Mossad to regard the overthrow of the Islamic Republic as the only solution. He had earlier said the Islamic Republic under Mojtaba Khamenei has again moved towards a nuclear weapon and that the only way out is the end of this regime.
Iranians' messages to Israel
During the months of war between the Islamic Republic and Israel and the United States, many Iranians around the world have used videos and messages to draw a clear line between the people of Iran and the Islamic Republic, saying the regime's hostility towards Israel does not represent their will. Netanyahu's Persian message is a direct response to these messages and shows once again that Israel's leaders distinguish between the Iranian nation and the regime that rules over it.
In a Persian message, Netanyahu said he defends the freedom and rights of the people of Iran against the Islamic Republic's repression.
