Prince Reza Pahlavi: make Iran's freedom a yardstick for your vote in the US elections

In a message on Sunday 18 October 2026 to Americans of Iranian descent and all citizens of the United States, Prince Reza Pahlavi asked them to go to the polls in the November congressional midterm elections and to make Iran's freedom one of the main criteria of their choice.

In the message, published on his official channels, he recalled that Americans of Iranian descent have for nearly half a century helped build and strengthen this country in business, medicine, science and education, and must now make their voices heard at the ballot box.

Why a free Iran benefits everyone

Prince Reza Pahlavi argued that a free Iran benefits, above all, the Iranian people, who deserve to live with dignity, freedom of expression and the right to choose their leaders without fear. According to him, a free Iran also benefits the world, because for more than four decades the Islamic Republic has armed militias, financed terrorism and destabilised its neighbours, and the consequences of its actions have been the lives of countless innocent people in the Middle East, Europe and beyond.

He also said a free Iran benefits the American people. According to the Prince, the Islamic Republic's disruption of the Strait of Hormuz has brought economic pressure all the way to American petrol stations and grocery stores, whereas a free Iran would mean safe and open shipping lanes, a more stable energy market and a nation of 90 million that, instead of threatening America, is ready to trade and cooperate with it.

The question to put to candidates

Prince Reza Pahlavi stressed that lasting peace and stability are impossible with a government whose leaders chant "Death to America". He asked voters to encourage their family and friends to vote too, and to ask every candidate, Republican or Democrat, whether they understand that the problem is this regime itself.

According to him, voters should judge whether each candidate stands with the Iranian people or with their oppressors. The Prince ended the message by saying the Islamic Republic is not the solution to the crisis but its root, and that the only lasting solution is to pull up this root, that is, the regime itself.

Prince Reza Pahlavi asked American voters to judge whether each candidate stands with the Iranian people or with their oppressors.

Background to the message

The message came as America's war with the Islamic Republic and the Strait of Hormuz crisis have become an issue in the US midterm elections, and as Donald Trump warned the same day that if the Islamic Republic does not change course, he will finish the job. In recent days Prince Reza Pahlavi has stressed the Islamic Republic's threat to the security of the West, and on 6 November he is due to speak at the Royal Military Academy of Belgium on this same threat to Europe's security.
