US President Donald Trump stressed once again at a campaign rally in Wasilla, Alaska, on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, that the Islamic Republic will never acquire a nuclear weapon and that the war will end soon. In the same speech he told the crowd to wait and see what America does with the Islamic Republic, because Washington's patience has run out.
The remarks came a day after Trump said America would decide on the Islamic Republic soon, and as the Houthis, allies of the Islamic Republic, step up attacks on Saudi Arabia and on ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump's claims about the war and the nuclear programme
The US president said the United States has won the war with the Islamic Republic, and that the Islamic Republic, which bullied the Middle East for decades, now has no navy, no air force and no air defence. According to him, the only record the Islamic Republic has left is the world's highest inflation rate.
Trump repeated that before B-2 bombers struck its nuclear facilities in June 2025, the Islamic Republic was only two weeks away from building a nuclear weapon, and that previous administrations should have acted much sooner. He also condemned the transfer of 1.7 billion dollars in cash to Tehran under Barack Obama, saying the money went into the missile and nuclear programmes.
The Strait of Hormuz and the oil price
Trump said America now controls the Strait of Hormuz, and that he had expected the oil price to rise even higher, but that this control has prevented a sharp spike in prices. He called the rise in the oil price a small cost compared with preventing the Islamic Republic from obtaining a nuclear weapon, and said the war would soon be over and the oil price would come down.
The Alaska speech was part of Trump's campaign trips ahead of the US midterm elections; the war with the Islamic Republic and high fuel prices have become one of the main issues of the race. Earlier, at a rally in Ohio, Trump had also said America may have gone too far in targeting the Islamic Republic's leaders.

In Alaska, Trump said America's patience has run out and that the Islamic Republic will never get a nuclear weapon.
