This report updates: Sistan and Baluchestan: two armed clashes in Zahedan and Taftan leave at least six dead
Following DIAR's earlier report on the armed clashes in Taftan on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, two Baluch human rights groups announced that a number of Fatemiyoun paramilitaries, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), were killed in an ambush by armed men in the Chah Ahmad area of Taftan county in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
According to Haalvsh, about 18 motorcycles carrying Fatemiyoun fighters were sent from the Sarkal Qalehbid base toward the heights of the area, where they were ambushed by armed men. The group said the clashes had continued for more than seven hours by the time of its report and that more than 20 Fatemiyoun fighters had been killed or wounded. The Baluchistan Human Rights Documentation Network, citing its sources, also confirmed that a number of these fighters were killed in the Loop heights, but gave no figure.
Response with mortars and drones
According to the two groups, after taking casualties the government forces targeted the heights of the area with mortars and drones. Media affiliated with the IRGC claimed that a number of the armed men had been killed, but the exact casualties on either side have not been independently confirmed, and the identity of the attackers is also unclear.
